GREAT FALLS – Hockey being played in the fall? That might sound crazy, but that’s what’s going on in Great Falls. As the Great Falls Americans hold their first practice and media day. Here’s what some of the players and coach had to say about the upcoming season.
“Right away, it’s like the first day of school, right? Half of them know each other, the other half don’t. And the extra time that we’re given for them to gel before we play a game, three weeks is, you know, it’s huge. You know these guys can start to form that brotherhood,” said Head Coach Greg Sears
“We’re just gonna take it one day at a time and go 100% at everything. Hopefully the veteran core here can get the younger guys into the mix and just build a solid group together, come in as one, and then hopefully we just come together and play as how we did last year and even better,” said Americans Goalie Kaden Ryder
“Lot of the rookies are coming back and our vets are more experience even if you saw today, we’re all kind of all meshed together really well already. And we’re definitely at a higher level than when we started last year. So, I think that’s gonna put us a step above everyone else,” said Americans Forward Aidan Kennedy
“Nothing’s easy here. Everything you gotta work hard for you know, work on the little things. Turnovers, controlling the puck, making good plays when we need to. And just eliminating the mistakes for sure. Because when playoffs come, we can’t make too many mistakes or any at all,” said Americans Forward Ty O’Bey.
The Americans kickstart their season September 6th when the Sheridan hawks come to town.
