GREAT FALLS, Mont., October 12, 2013 — The Great Falls Americans ran their record to 6-0 with an 8-1 victory over the Billings Bulls at home in front of 785 excited fans on Saturday night. The Americans have now won five of their six games in front of the home crowd.
Austin Krantz’s power play goal with 12:36 left in the opening period put the Americans on top 1-0. Lucas Lomax scored three of Great Falls’ eight total goals on the evening. His first goal came nine minutes into the game off a pass from Great Falls native Connor Barta and Aaron McInnis. Billings’ TJ Theodosopoulos scored the only goal in the contest for the Bulls with four seconds left in the period.
Over the next two periods, five different Americans would record goals including Lomax (2), Zachary Mese, Dylan Garton, Steven Goran and Aaron McInnis. McInnis and Lomax now lead the team in goals scored with seven on the year while Erik Gatson picked up his seventh assist.
Penalties proved to be costly for the Billings squad as they racked up 14 infractions accounting for 37 minutes while the Americans had seven penalties for 23 minutes. Great Falls connected on two power play opportunities in the first and third periods.
Evan Hauser, the Americans goalie, stopped 19 of Billings 20 shot attempts while Cole Semchek and Mark Becica combined for 35 saves for Billings. Hauser, the St. Paul Minnesota native, now has 124 saves in six games.
The Americans under head coach Jeff Heimel are now 6-0 in league play while the Bulls are now 1-5-1 on the season with their only win coming against the Yellowstone Quake.
NEXT CONTEST: Great Falls will remain at home on Friday and Saturday (October 18-19) with a two game series against the Yellowstone Quake (Cody, WY) with both games slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
