GREAT FALLS, Mont., September 27, 2013 — The Great Falls Americans Junior A hockey Team came away with their second straight victory on Friday night at the Great Falls Ice Plex as they defeated the Glacier Nationals 8-0.
Great Falls scored midway through the first period as Lucas Lomax scored his fourth goal in two games to put the Americans on the scoreboard. Erik Gatson and Donovan Mattfeldt were each credited with assists.
The Americans would dominate the second period as six different players each scored. Cody Page connected on the first goal followed by a short-handed goal by Aaron McInnis three minutes later. Meanwhile, Doug Keller and Austin Krantz picked up their first goals of the season.
In the final period, Max Kaercher scored the last goal of the game on an unassisted scoring drive.
Great Falls goaltender, Evan Hauser ended the night with 25 saves while Glacier’s Jake Mullen and Ethan Wiese combined for 33. Krantz goal to end the second period was the only goal of the evening scored during a power play.
The Great Falls Americans are now 2-0 in the American West Hockey League after defeating the Bozeman Ice Dogs 4-1 last Friday. Glacier, the league’s newest member, falls to 2-2.
NEXT CONTEST: Great Falls will host the Gillette Wild next Friday night (Oct. 4th) at 7:30PM at the Great Falls Ice Plex.
