GREAT FALLS, Mont., March 5, 2013 — The surging Great Falls Americans (16-30-2) finished the 2012-2013 campaign with a win in 4 out their last 5 games culminating with their 16th win of the season last Friday night in front of a home crowd of 1,300 fans at the Great Falls Ice Plex.
The Americans began their big finish two weekends ago on the road against the Gillette Wild where they skated to a 3-2 victory. Lucas Lomax had two goals for the Americans while Forward Erik Gatson had 2 assists. Goaltender Erik Powell had a strong performance in the net stopping 37 of 39 shots.
The next night Great Falls found themselves in action against the Billings Bulls where they earned a 5-2 win. Forward Lucas Lomax had 3 goals for the Americans, while Nate Bastian added a goal and an assist. Powell was strong again between the pipes stopping 24 of 26.
The next week the Americans opened up Thursday night on the road against the Bozeman Ice Dogs where they won decisively with a score of 10-3. Nate Bastian led the way scoring with 3 goals and 3 assists. Forwards Lucas Lomax, Lucas Stover and Erik Gatson also had big nights with 4 points each. Goalie Evan Hauser earned the win in the net stopping 9 out of 10 shots.
In their final home game of the season last Friday the Americans skated to a 4-0 shutout against the Ice Dogs. Stover notched two goals for the Americans while Erik Powell stopped all 22 shots. The team won in front of an impressive crowd of 1,300 supporters. “What a way to end the season” added Head Coach Jeff Heimel. “This team has come a long way and we can’t wait to carry that momentum into next season”
The Americans 2013-2014 Season kicks off in early September and will consist of a 48 game schedule.
