GREAT FALLS, Mont., April 30, 2024 — The Great Falls Americans of the North American 3 Hockey League’s (NA3HL) are proud to announce that defenseman Spencer Schipferling has committed to play college hockey in North Dakota starting in the fall of 2024.
Schipferling, who will turn 19 on September 15, 2024, is from Williston, North Dakota and will continue his education and playing career for the University of Jamestown (ND) Jimmies men’s hockey team. The Jamestown, North Dakota private Christian school that has a variety of different undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Jamestown is a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and plays Division I hockey with program rivals such as Minot State University and the University of Mary among others.
During the 2023-24 junior hockey season with Great Falls, he appeared in 39 contests for the Americans in his lone season with the squad after scoring two goals and accumulating two assists in two seasons at Williston High School. He earned two assists while facing the Yellowstone (WY) Quake this season. In a September 8th home game, he assisted on one scoring play in their 5-4 victory, and he dished out another assist in a 2-1 road victory in Cody, Wyoming. The Americans won 22 games this season and earned a playoff spot. They fell in the Frontier Division Semi-Finals to eventual NA3HL National Champion, Helena Bighorns in two games of their best-of-three series.
Jamestown finished the season sixth in the final ACHA DI standings with a 25-13 record under head coach Dean Stark. Jamestown advanced to the 2024 ACHA National Tournament in Maryland Heights, Missouri where they fell to the University of Pittsburgh, 4-1.
“Spencer is a good young player and a great kid,” said Great Falls Americans Head Coach and General Manager, Greg Sears. “We are excited for his opportunity at Jamestown next season.”
The 6’0” former Great Falls American joins three fellow NA3HL Frontier Division players at Jamestown who have signed recently including Alex Lamont, from the national champion, Helena Bighorns and two players from the Sheridan (WY) Hawks, Tanner Freed, and Jackson LeBrasseur.
